Paula Whittaker Watkins, Ph.D.

Paula Whittaker Watkins is an education and business professional with 35 plus years’ experience in teaching, leadership and corporate environments. She has served as a literacy coach for Wayne and Genesee Counties, as Assistant Professor of Education at Marygrove College, and as an Adjunct Professor at Wayne State and Oakland Universities. She graduated from Oakland University with a doctoral degree from the School of Education and Human Resources under the guidance of dissertation committee chair Professor Emeritus Dr. Toni Walters. Her family includes individuals whom she admires and loves greatly – she has been married to her best friend George Wayne Watkins for 36 years and is the mother of three wonderful young adults. She loves people, reading, and local, national and international travel. It is her life work and desire to positively TRANSFORM lives by teaching and helping people!

Over the years, Paula has engaged in teaching and education/corporate training, strategic planning, organizational assessment and development, change management, curriculum development and instructional design, business development, project management, client/customer relations, and contract negotiations.

Dr. Paula Whittaker Watkins is an education and business professional with more than in teaching, leadership and corporate environments. Over the years, she has engaged in teaching and education/corporate training, strategic planning, organizational assessment and development, change management, instructional design and planning, business development, project management, and client/customer relations negotiations. Additionally, she served as a literacy coach for Wayne and Genesee Counties, as assistant professor of Education at Marygrove College, adjunct professor of Education at Wayne State and Oakland Universities and graduated from Oakland University with the doctoral degree from the School of Education and Human Resources. Married to husband, G. Wayne Watkins for 30 plus years; they are proud parents of three.
Professionally, Dr. Watkins is the Founder and Chief Academic Officer for the Cyber Education Center, serving as CEO of American International Cyber Institute—an innovative learning environment for two schools –The City School of Detroit and The International School—serving students throughout the state of Michigan, across the United States, and in various countries around the globe. She has been noted in publications as the First African American woman to found virtual and cyber K-12 schools. Cyber Education Center was established with a vision of transforming lives of students and families with the goal of ensuring that students matriculate, progress academically, and graduate from high school so they continue through life to gain careers, become employed, successfully graduate college or complete other post-secondary learning and vocational training, thereby becoming integrated as giving, productive citizens who are life-long learners. She serves as the Headmaster for The City School of Detroit and The International School founded by Senator Jack Faxon more than 50 years ago and which provide American U.S. High School diploma matriculation opportunities for students internationally. In addition, to that capacity, she has worked to fulfill the vision of a global learning institution that delivers education in a cyber mode.
